Meet Will Pittman – Owner & Operator of Ornery Horse Excavation

Neighbors kept telling me the same story: contractors who don’t call back, show up late, or leave jobs unfinished. I wanted to be the opposite. That’s why Ornery Horse exists – to deliver land services you can trust, right here in York and Chester Counties.

Common Questions
About My Work

These are the questions I get asked most often. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to send me a message

What areas do you serve?

Ornery Horse Excavation proudly serves property owners within an 80-mile radius of Edgemoor, South Carolina, covering all of York and Chester Counties and surrounding communities. We
frequently take on projects near the South Carolina–North Carolina border.

Do you provide materials or do I need to buy them?

I can handle material procurement as part of the project, or you can arrange materials yourself if you prefer. For gravel, stone, and fill dirt, I work with local suppliers to get quality materials at fair prices.
What’s the best time of year for excavation work?

I work year-round, but some jobs are better suited to certain seasons. Land clearing is often best in late fall/winter when you can see what you’re working with. Driveway work is ideal during dry periods. I’ll advise on timing for your specific project.

Can you work around livestock and farm operations?
Absolutely. I understand rural operations and can work around feeding schedules, livestock areas, and other farm activities. Just let me know what I need to be aware of.
Can you work in tight spaces or around existing structures?

Yes, my equipment is sized to work in areas where larger machinery won’t fit. I can work carefully around existing buildings, landscaping, or other structures you want to preserve.
Do you offer emergency services?

For storm cleanup and urgent property issues, I try to accommodate emergency needs when possible. Call and I’ll discuss your situation and availability.
How do I get started?

Give me a call or request a quote through the website. I’ll schedule a time to look at your project, discuss what you need, and provide a clear estimate for the work.

What types of properties does Ornery Horse Excavation work on?

Our work is focused on rural properties — including large lots, farmland, and undeveloped acreage. We don’t typically work in subdivisions or residential track developments. Whether you need land cleared, graded for construction, or prepped for a new homesite, we’re here to help bring your project to life across the region.
